My "art" experience began when I was 10 years old and a friend of mine showed me some of his drawings. I immediately picked a pencil and began doodling. Throughout grade school, junior high, and high school I explored other mediums but always came back to the pencil realm. My talents went digital in the early 2000s as I began tech school and obtained my Associate Degree in Grapic Design. After that, real life set in and jobs were fruitless. My art/design skills lent themselves mostly to side work but I kept pushing myself to explore new areas of artistic expression.

 

In the Fall of 2007, I began seeing amazing pumpkin carvings pop up on the internet and on competitions on Food Network. While the works I found were mostly sculpted, I was intrigued at the thought of carving designs and portratis into pumpkins. After spending my 3 hours carving my first "portrait'kin", I was hooked. After seeing that carving rot away in a matter of days, I turned to artificial pumpkins and never looked back.
